The students obtain an interdisciplinary perspective of molecular cell biology covering biological, physical and chemical principles. They get a comprehensive, practical introduction into state-of-the-art techniques to interrogate and manipulate molecular cell biology at nanoscale.
Topics: Physical and biological chemistry of the cell; fundamental spectroscopy, surface-sensitive and -enhanced spectroscopic techniques; Surface chemistry and micro-/nanopatterning techniques; Electron and fluorescence microscopy techniques; optical manipulation techniques; scanning probe microscopy and force spectroscopy.
